Trigger point therapy can be utilized to treat conditions such as headaches, migraines, temporomandibular joint disorder, tinnitus, and vertigo. This course defines and identifies trigger point pathophysiology and their ability to cause pain and autonomic phenomena. Muscle anatomy of the head, face, neck, shoulders, and back are reviewed along with the associated referral pain and symptoms. Hands-on demonstrations are provided for the back, shoulders, and sternocleidomastoid, as well as the head, face, and muscles of mastication.

- Define various conditions/diseases such as headaches, migraines, TMJD, tinnitus and vertigo
- Identify the components of fascia and understand its importance in trigger point therapy treatment
- Describe the various types and clinical characteristics of trigger points
- Identify the origin, insertion, and action of various muscles in the back, shoulder, head, neck, and face
- Categorize various muscle anatomy and their associated pain and symptoms
- Describe postural and pain dysfunction as it relates to trigger point activation
- Demonstrate hands-on techniques for headaches, migraines, TMJD, tinnitus and vertigo
