Kinesiology taping is redefining the role of therapeutic taping for rehabilitation professionals. Taping was once used to physically hold structures in place; now kinesiology taping is used to influence fascia and underlying neural tissues to cause functional changes in both the local tissue as well as the central nervous system. Often relegated to the athletic world, kinesiology taping has many orthopedic, neurological, pediatric, geriatric, and other specialty applications. Course content will include orthopedic assessment, adjunctive manual therapies, and kinesiology taping for joint mobility and stability applications.

This course is intended to instruct the professional how to successfully integrate kinesiology taping methods into clinical practice.

STEVE MIDDLETON, PT, DPT, MS, ATC, CSCS, CES, CKTP, FMT, serves as the Program Director for the Athletic Training Education Program at William Woods University as well as Clinic Director at Assess, Treat and Condition, an outpatient clinic in Fulton, MO. He has nearly 20 years of experience in patient care. Dr. Middleton has also worked with athletes, from high school to college as well as professional athletes in the NFL and the Olympics. He has instructed thousands of clinicians in continuing education courses over the past 8 years. His treatment and teaching approach is very hands-on, from performing manual therapy techniques to therapeutic exercises to improve function while decreasing symptoms.
Dr. Middleton earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St Augustine for Health Sciences with an emphasis in manual physical therapy. He also holds a Master of Science in Exercise Science & Health Promotion from California University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Southern Illinois University. In addition to his academic degrees, he holds additional certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the National Strength & Conditioning Association, the International Kinesio Taping Association, and Graston Technique. Steve Middleton is certified in Fascial Movement Taping (FMT) and has become a foremost authority in the field integrating a variety of manual therapy techniques.
