Whitney Henderson, OTD, MOT, OTR/L is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree [2006] and Master’s degree [2008] in Occupational Therapy from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Clinical Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy [2017] from Creighton University. Whitney possesses experience across a variety of settings primarily treating individuals with neurological conditions. She has been in academia for approximately 8 years and teaches a variety of content related to the evaluation and treatment of adults. She also supervises students in a pro-bono practicum clinic and engages in research related to neurological populations and professional education. Whitney has a variety of experiences related to teaching and learning. She has published a book titled Effective Teaching: Instructional Methods and Strategies for Occupational Therapy Education. She has also conducted 4 research projects, published 4 papers, created a 4-part continuing education model, presented more than 10 presentations, and received 1 grant related to teaching and learning topics. Whitney also mentors students in teaching practicums and has implemented many creative methods of teaching [e.g. plickers, podcast creation, TORSH, Flipgrid] throughout her courses. She owns a private consulting company which works with educators to rethink their teaching and learning practices.
