Course Description:
CMS has finalized a new case-mix classification model called the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM), which will be effective beginning October 1, 2019 for classifying SNF patients in a covered Part A stay. This new PPS payment system will be a significant change from the RUGs IV system that is effective until September 30, 2019.
This course will review details for each of the five case-mix adjusted components, and will also review the new MDS assessment requirements, the limitations and requirements for delivery modes of therapy, and other significant points of what to expect under this new payment system.

Course Goals:
This course is intended to instruct Long Term Care staff will be able to effectively document and track their Part A patients under the new PDPM system.
Professional Objectives:
- Identify the criteria for patient classification with the 5 components of Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM)
- List the key factors for costs predictive of the OT/PT components of PDPM
- List the five SLP components of PDPM, to include the required documentation supporting the presence of each component
- Identify the determination factors for classifying a resident into a Non-Therapy Ancillary (NTA) case‐mix group
- Recognize the key changes to MDS Assessments, when comparing RUG-IV to PDPM
- Recognize the changes to group & concurrent therapy, as noted from RUGs-IV to PDPM
- Identify the expected factors that CMS will be monitoring, following the initiation of PDPM on 10/1/2019
