Course Description
This course will highlight important health care issues, based on body systems, in the adolescent population. Red and/or yellow flags will be presented, within the context of the past medical history that may warrant a referral. Selected screening tools and components of the upper quadrant and lower quadrant examination will be discussed as it pertains to the adolescent population.

This course is intended to instruct the professional on health care issues, based on body systems, in the adolescent population
Professional Objectives:
- List 6 general red flags that may warrant a referral when medically screening the adolescent patiens
- List 4 red flags signs and or symptoms of a slipped femoral capital epiphysis that may warrant a need for outside referral
- List the clinical relevance of the Ottawa Ankle Rules, with respect to sensitivity, specificity and the need for making an outside referral.
- Recall 3 risk factors for MRSA when screening the integumentary system in an adolescent
Criteria for Completion:
A score of 70% or more is considered passing. Scores of less than 70% indicate a failure to understand the material and the test will need to be taken again until a passing score has been achieved.
