Course Description

The goal of lymphedema therapy is to restore function, reduce physical and psychologic suffering, and prevent the development of infection. Without the beneficial support provided by compression garments and/or bandages, lymphedema therapy treatment wouldn't exist. It is helpful for the clinician to have a full understanding of how compression succeeds with limb reduction and how they complement each other in the successful lymphedema training and treatment.

This course focuses on the basic uses of compression therapy, primarily in relation to lymphedema. Professionals are instructed on identifying the lymphatic system and it’s components and learn to recognize indications and contraindications for compression therapy. Carmen also covers the basics of lymphedema, compression garments and compression bandaging techniques as well as identifying other modalities that can be used in the treatment of lymphedema.

This Seminar-On-Demand is 3 contact hours in length (check your state's approval status in the state specific course catalog for your profession).
