Karen Lutgerding earned her B.S. degree at The University of Wisconsin – Madison and is a licensed Physical Therapist in the state of California with 29 years of experience, primarily in Skilled Nursing Facilities specializing in treatment in the field of geriatrics. She has extensive experience evaluating and treating geriatric patients with varying diagnoses including orthopedics, neurological impairments, wound care, cardiac and respiratory conditions, and multiple medical complexities in the frail and elderly patient.
Ms. Lutgerding has had experience in the hospital acute care and transitional care units as a staff Physical Therapist and as a Director of Rehab at various Skilled Nursing Facilities including some with Subacute Care programs. She is currently employed in the role of Director of Quality Assurance and Compliance with Intergro Rehab Services. Key responsibilities of this position include: program development, management of quality assurance through chart audits and educational programs. Focus is on providing quality care with supporting documentation with adherence to all Federal and State regulations and guidelines. Ms. Lutgerding is responsible for providing Quality Assurance support to over 45 Skilled Nursing Facilities located throughout California.
Ms. Lutgerding has been highly involved throughout her career in providing direct patient care as well as one-on-one training in both the delivery of quality care to enhance patient’s lives and facilitate their recovery as well as complete quality documentation to support the services provided. She has extensive experience in treatment of the geriatric population with over 25 years working in Skilled Nursing Facilities throughout Southern California.
