Diane M. Heislein, PT, DPT, OCS, is a licensed physical therapist with over 30 years of clinical practice primarily in the practice area of orthopedics. She received a bachelor of science degree in physical therapy from the University of Lowell, a post-professional master of science degree in orthopedic and sports physical therapy and a doctor of physical therapy degree from the MGH Institute of Health Professions. Dr. Heislein received board certification as a clinical specialist in orthopedics (OCS) from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 1992, 2002, and 2010. She hold a full-time faculty appointment at Boston University’s College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College as the director of the physical therapy programs, where she teaches the lower extremity musculoskeletal system course, which includes the examination and treatment of patients following knee arthroplasty. In addition, her clinical practice is focused on acute care management of orthopedics, including post-surgical patients, with a high volume of joint arthroplasty patients at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Heislein has authored several textbook chapters and a clinical summary for the APTA on physical therapy management of patients following arthroplasty surgery.
