Sports Massage: Enhancing Training, Participation and Recovery for Today’s Athlete

Course Description

Classic massage training typically includes little, if any, understanding of the physical and physiological challenges of sports activities and training.  Many massage therapists lack full appreciation of the tools and value massage therapy can hold for enhancing sports training, participation and recovery.  The Sports Massage course will draw on the fields of classic massage therapy, Strength and Conditioning, and athletic training, and respected research to introduce massage professionals to the specific physiology of athletic pursuits.

This course will explore the demands unique to sports, and how the body responds to training and competition.  This will support a thorough didactic of the many techniques available to massage therapists in assisting athletes before, during and after competition.

This Seminar-on-Demand is 3 contact hours in length (check your state’s approval status in the state specific course catalog for your profession).
